Guidelines for Admissions to the Forensic and Investigative Sciences Program Beginning Fall 2013

Effective May  2013

Change of Majors/Transfers:

1. 0-45 hours, Student must have :

  • At least 1 completed semester at TAMU (not applicable for transfers)
  • CHEM 101/111 and 102/112
  • Min. 2 other science courses from the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) list
  • Min. 2 other CBK courses
  • 3.0 on CBKs and Core Curriculum*

2. 45-65 hours:

  • At least  1 completed semester at TAMU (not applicable for transfers)
  • ALL CBKs completed (except FIVS 205 for transfer students)
  • 3.0 on CBKs and Core Curriculum*

* 3.0 on ALL coursework with no grade of” D”, “F”, or “U”

* Excessive Q-drops, withdrawals, repeats, or honor violations will be considered when reviewing applications to the Forensic and Investigative Sciences program

3.       No change of majors /transfers will be accepted above 65 hours

Minimum Guidelines for Continuing Students

  1. Freshman must maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPR (with or without the use of Grade Exclusion) at all times or they may be subject to probationary terms or dismissal.
  2. Sophomores , Juniors, and Seniors must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPR at all times or they may be subject to probationary terms or dismissal.
  3. Student must enroll in and successfully complete (with a “C” or better) a minimum of one science course per semester

* The Grade Point Ratio (GPR) is the total number of grade points divided by the total attempted hours at TAMU

* Classifications determined by student rules 13.1-.3 at:  http://student-rules.tamu.edu/search/rule13.htm
